Link Exchanges

I hope most of you know that a direct exchange of links is less than useless as far as getting a better placement in the search engines is concerned.  (Even less useful are sidebar link exchanges).

From time to time I get requests from other webmasters to provide links to their niche sites on a swap basis. I usually end up saying no – just because the niches they have don’t match mine – there are just too many niches in the world!

If however you want a solution to the problem I suggest you check out ConnectContent.  Its a paid site, but at $12/month I think its a bargain. You provide links to other anonymous users and in return you get credit which you use to get your links anchored within posts/hubs/lenses/whatever using your chosen anchor text.

The site is run by RT who is totally honest and ethical and monitors all the links so that you know that your link stays up!

And yes  I get a commission on this one – but I use it because its a great service – particularly for the price!

Hmmm… You should be careful using and promoting a site like ConnectContent.

Just like textlinkads and the NUMEROUS OTHER text link brokers out there… Google can track these guys and there users.

It may not happen straight away… but one day you can be assured that you will get pinged. I’ve seen it happen time and time again….

Google does not take kindly to ppl trying to ‘game them’ and manipulate the serps with text link acquiring programs…

Dave,

Content Connect is not a text link broker. It is no different than having a link section on your site saying “Link Exchanges.”

Thanks Derrick – I missed answering this comment somwewhere in the middle of the SBI storm! Yes to clarify Dave, I do not buy links – that is illegal and I agree most people get caught doing it

Lis how is Connect Content going for you?

I’ve used it for about a month and a half. Still to make my mind up about the service. I’ve written a full review of my experiences with ConnectContent on my site.

It is not ‘illegal’ to buy links.

Goodness me, best to just put things in perspective people!

Google is a private company whom offers the service of search. To be included in search, websites simply need to comply with their regulations.

These regulations are not the law – they’re simply T&Cs like any company’s. We have no contractual obligation to Google, because we are included in their results by default.

Sad but true, we are somewhat being controlled by Google if you say buying links is illegal. For me, rankings rankings among search engines especially Google, does not measure how good your website is when it comes to popularity. Its about how much traffic you feed in.
