Warning From Adsense!

I think a few people at HubPages recently have had warning emails from Adsense – in censorshippart the email goes something like this:

While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying
Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For
instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as
h**p://cdn.hubpages.com/hub/XXGoogleXAdsenseX.
Please note that this URL is an example and that the same violations may
exist on other pages of your website.

As stated in our program policies, AdSense publishers are not permitted to
make prominent use of “Google Brand Features” on sites displaying Google
ads. This includes any sites that attempt to create a false association
with Google or use Google trademarks in the URL.

So apparently you can’t use Adsense or Google in urls – note this was just in the end part of the url as well not actually the domain name. Not on a site which uses Adsense anyways. I’m not the only one to have been affected on HubPages and the Hub support team suggested I unpublish or change the url’s on any hub which contained “google” or “adsense”.

So I did – about a month ago – and now they are all gone from the cache  now they – are back right here on this site – which does not, never has, and will never run Adsense! Unfortunately I have lost the comments – which as usual on hubpages were useful – anyway here is the text!

Adsense Placement on HubPages

This never made me a lot of Adsense – but it ranked pretty well because it had so organic links – oh well. Useful information if you want to know why you have a single digit click thru rate on your hubs.

SEO Google Explains How to Do It

I went through the latest Google Webmaster guidelines and applied the “official” “suggestions” to hubpages.

How to Earn $1000 a Month with Adsense

Obviously sarcasm doens’t work with Adsense employees! This was actually the hub they named as in breach of their TOS! I must admit though I made a few dollars because yes  I was triggering plenty of get rich quick Adsense ads and the odd idiot did indeed click on them!

Hey Lis,

Good to know! I haven’t written anything about IM or MMO on hubpages so I haven’t gotten this email…

Question for you though… If you had Adsense on this page… being (https://lissowerbutts.com/warning-from-adsense/), you think you’d get the same email?

Grizz frequently uses the word “Adsense” in his URL’s – ie – http://makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com/2009/03/make-money-with-adsense-february-income.html

I know he doesn’t have Adsense on his site anymore either mind you…

Regardless… Thanks for the update and keep up the good work!

Jeff there are plenty of pages still on hubpages which mention “adsense” or google – the difference maybe that some of mine were ranking quite well… Yes I think I would have been pushing my luck by reproducing the article anywhere with Adsense – or least my adsense ID 🙂

Yes you would think they would have noticed Griz wouldn’t you? Maybe he makes them too much money …

I am confused, I have a German Blogspot blog on the line of “make money with Google” and with “Google” in the url, but noting, no email, no nothing. The blog has a PR3 and ranks well for some minor terms in the search engines, so I wonder how long that will last? I am a bit concerned now, to say the least, SY

Its Google – its designed to be confusing LOL I wasn’t banned – it was purely a warning – I’d leave it up until you get warned. I few people got “caught” at HubPages maybe Google decided to review HubPages and I just got unlucky *shrug* I would probably avoid spending a lot of money on urls which featured trademark terms such as “adsense” or “google” – but apart from that I filed this under “interesting” rather than “deeply concerning”

I will certainly wait until I get warned, but I will also think about building up another German “make money online” blog without Google / adsense and so on in the domain, SY

Lis,
so are saying the you can’t use ADSENSE in the URL at all, even if you don’t have ADSENSE on the particular site?
So I am not allowed to do a video blog post on “how to make money with Google Adsense” even if i never put adsense on the site?
Al

no Allyn my theory is that you can use the terms so long as you are not running Adsense on your site!

Hi Lis,
I wonder what there real problem was? I mean, if you are teaching people how to make money with adsense then Google is also going to get more adsense revenue along with the site owner I would think. The whole point of their program to put ads on websites is to get people to click those ads.
It would be interesting to know what is really going on behind the scenes. If they don’t want get rich quick ads you would think they wouldn’t sell them. But I guess that would make too much sense. LOL

I wonder if this means we’re going to being seeing a lot of new hubs about “making money with Gooble Adscents”…

Have you noticed that Grizz usually adds “This site is in no way associated with Google or Adsense” to beginning of posts that have “Adsense” or “google ” in the topic?

Did not check all his posts but I have seen this a few times – so I guess he has had that warning also.

End of personal speculation.

Hey Lis,

Well, since I’ve recently given up on ebay, and started delving more into the wonderful world of adsense, I very much appreciate tips like this. lol, that’d be just my luck, get to the point where I’m making decent extra money, then do something stupid enough to get banned 🙂

I got the same thing when I showed ads on GoogleAdSenseGenerator.com but fortunately they had nothing against the site itself just that I showed AdSense on it.

@Stefan
Need toy, but I am sure that Google has a lot against its logo, interface etc being used in such a way, that really borders on trademark infringement! I can see the humorous part in it, but I can equally see the danger of misleading people, just my 2 cents, SY

Thanks for taking the time to move your posts, I appreciate learning from you rather than learning the hard way!!! I only have 2 hubs, but I plan to write considerably more… I tend to steer clear of the make money online keywords, and don’t really talk about adsense…
